Aquarius Pools closed 2021 with a strong run of trophies from two industry bodies. Aquarius Pools’ industry awards that year included a Pool of the Year title and several gold category wins. In particular, concrete lap pools and combined pool and spa projects drew the judges’ attention. This article lists each 2021 result and explains the context behind it.

Leadership and Context Behind the 2021 Wins
The Jackson family founded the business in 1979, and Chris Jackson now serves as managing director. In 2021, construction manager Jonathan Edrupt joined the team as a director. Consequently, the company entered its award season with a stronger leadership group. Furthermore, earlier profiles say the team builds about 30 architectural concrete pools each year.
The company belongs to both SPASA Australia and the MPBAA. As a result, it can enter awards run by two separate bodies. In 2021, Aquarius Pools won recognition from each one.
MPBAA Pool of the Year Success
The MPBAA marked its 60th anniversary in 2021. The association announced 42 award categories, along with milestone awards for longevity and excellence. Aquarius Pools won the Pool of the Year title at that event. In fact, SPLASH magazine listed the result among the main awards of the night.
Members compete across many categories. Therefore, a Pool of the Year title stands above dozens of category winners. In other words, the judges chose one project as the best of the entire program.
Gold Category Wins at the MPBAA Awards
Beyond the top title, the company won two category golds at the MPBAA awards. Specifically, it took gold for Residential Concrete Lap Pool and for Residential Concrete Pool & Spa over $100,000. According to Complete Home, one pool earned all three MPBAA results. In other words, a single project collected three honours.
SPASA Victoria Honours for 2021
SPASA Victoria also recognised Aquarius Pools in 2021. The company won gold for Best Residential Concrete Lap Pool. In addition, it won gold for Best Residential Concrete Pool & Spa Combination over $100,000. Furthermore, it earned a Highly Commended placing for Best Water Feature.
These results mirror the MPBAA categories closely. For example, both bodies honoured a concrete lap pool and a pool and spa combination. Therefore, two separate programs rewarded the same kinds of work.
The Cera Stribley Architects Collaboration
Cera Stribley Architects designed the winning project in conjunction with Aquarius Pools. The pool features an infinity edge on three sides. Additionally, a large spa sits at the opposite end. Complete Home calls the design innovative, and the awards support that description.
The Remco Pool of the Year Title and the AQUA Profile
In its August 2022 awards edition, AQUA magazine interviewed Chris Jackson, the 2021 Remco Pool of the Year winner. The interview covered the inspiration behind the winning pool and what the award meant for the company. Moreover, it traced his career journey to date.
Sources use different labels here. AQUA refers to the Remco Pool of the Year, whereas SPLASH and Complete Home report the MPBAA Pool of the Year. Accordingly, readers should check the original winner lists to confirm how the two titles relate.
What the 2021 Pattern Shows
Three themes stand out in the 2021 record. First, concrete construction appears in every major category. Second, lap pools and pool and spa combinations won repeatedly. Third, the Highly Commended water feature placing points to attention to design detail.
For instance, Aquarius Pools’ industry awards from 2021 came from two bodies with different judging panels. Nevertheless, both rewarded similar project types. Consequently, the pattern looks like a genuine strength rather than a one-off result.
Ways to Check the 2021 Records
The Aquarius Pools recognition page lists its 2021 SPASA Victoria results. Likewise, SPLASH magazine reported the MPBAA winners. In addition, Complete Home published the project profile that names the three MPBAA wins. Accordingly, readers can cross-check each claim against more than one source.
